In one afternoon of hot September, the teacher of college Ethan Learner, his wife Grace, and his daughter Emma is assisted by them to a recital. His 10-year-old son Josh is touching the cello — belamente, as of habit. His youngest sister respects it, and his parents are proud of his son.
