Jarhead (the self-imposed name of the marines) follows "Swoff" (Gyllenhaal), to one of the third generation enlistee from a sobering restriction in the boot camp to the active job, a gun of a marksman and 100-pound fold on his back by Middle East deserts without lid of the unbearable heat or from Iraqi soldiers always potentially just about the following horizon proudly weight-bearing. Swoff and his companion of marine rest with the sardonic humanity and bad comedy on flaming up wild fields in a country which they do not understand against an enemy whom they cannot see for a cause which they plumb not completely. Foxx portrays sergeant Syke, a Seelifer who leads the train of the boy scout / marksman of Swofford, while Sarsgaard is the friend of Swoff and mentor, Troy, a stubborn member to her of the selection lake unity. Swoff und sein Gefährte Marines stützen sich mit der sardonischen Menschheit und schlechten Komödie auf aufflammenden Wüste-Feldern in einem Land, das sie gegen einen Feind nicht verstehen, den sie für eine Ursache nicht sehen können, die sie nicht völlig ausloten. Foxx porträtiert Sergeanten Sykes, einen Seelifer, wer den Zug des Pfadfinders/Scharfschützen von Swofford leitet, während Sarsgaard der Freund von Swoff und Mentor, Troy, ein hartnäckiges Mitglied STA-ihr der Ausleseseeeinheit ist.
